SAIFA IMPARTIALITY STATEMENT

The Southern Africa Institute for Artisans (SAIFA) is committed to ensuring the highest level of impartiality, objectivity, and integrity in all its certification activities.

SAIFA recognizes that impartiality is fundamental to the credibility of its certification processes and therefore ensures that all certification decisions are made independently, fairly, and based solely on objective evidence of competence.

Commitment to Impartiality

  • Conduct certification activities in a non-discriminatory and unbiased manner

  • Ensure that all candidates are treated equally and fairly, regardless of background, training provider, or affiliation

  • Make certification decisions independent of commercial, financial, or other external pressures

Independence of Certification

  • Certification is independent of training and other services

  • Completion of any training does not guarantee certification

  • No candidate is given any advantage based on the use of specific training providers

  • All candidates are assessed against the same competence-based criteria

Management of Conflicts of Interest

  • Requiring all personnel to declare any conflicts of interest

  • Ensuring that individuals with conflicts are excluded from relevant processes

  • Implementing strict separation between Assessment, Moderation, Certification decision-making

  • Enforcing a minimum two-year separation period where personnel may not assess candidates they have trained

Safeguarding Impartiality

  • SAIFA maintains impartiality through Independent governance structures, including Certification Committee, Appeals Committee and Impartiality oversight mechanisms

  • Ongoing risk identification and monitoring through risk register, Internal audits, management reviews, protection from undue Influence

Protection from Undue Influence

  • SAIFA ensures thatFinancial considerations, including fees paid by candidates, do not influence certification outcomes

  • External pressures from employers, training providers, or other stakeholders do not affect decisions

Transparency and Accountability

  • Makes this impartiality statement publicly available

  • Provides accessible processes for appeals & complaints
